How much skilled & rich are you are to be part of team to build AGI? What it takes to be part of Team for Advanced AI & Artificial General Intelligence.

AGI promises to be biggest unlock of wealth & impact. Most people don’t know their worth or skill level. Eg. A techie in Fortune 500 company or a PhD AI researcher. Or an Investor who visit Silicon Valley makes sweeping generalization – “India doesn’t have the skills required” or “We don’t have that much money”.

I know quite a few in 50L-1cr bracket, a few in 1cr+ bracket – who still say – “Let me get somewhat safe in life”. But this is not data driven approach. Rather, this is waste of remarkable opportunity to build AGI, go for maximum. If you aren’t comfortable even being 0.05% of the country – I am sorry to say – Money is causing unnecessary fear than allowing someone to live life to its full potential. Adjust to it the fact that in 10L bracket there may be many young in 20s. for eg. AI PhD researcher may be making less just because he chose to. Eg. he may care about impact. Their skills are way too high. But, many of us including came from modest background too. So start of such people may sometime look underwhelming but they have way higher potential with AGI.

If an Indian earns 50L in India, in PPP terms(Adjusting for cost of living) will be among top 3.28% of US.

So, all of people especially working in Fortune 500 or in skilled jobs compete with almost top 11% of US if not more. Adjust to it that

  1. Most Indians came from modest backgrounds. So, It wasn’t a level play to begin with. Thus, they may be more skilled in absolute term wit their US counterparts
  2. Indians are relatively younger than their US counterparts in similar brackets. Thus, as a rule of thumb – you may multiply your income with 1.35.(If aged > 40 or multiply with 1.7 if aged 30-40 or with 4 if aged 20-30). Then map it to above chart. Highly likely that you will land among 0-2-3%.
  3. Money isn’t the lone factor to compare skills. It’s just an indicator. So, a Techie or AI PhD in India in same income bracket in US(PPP terms) may be 2-3x hard working & skilled, while someone in US may have have additional leverage of being born in rich country.

If so, data shows – you are ready to compete. Life has given you enough to go for maximal – i.e Build AGI. Rest is in your hands to take control of your life.

Sweeping generalizations spoil actions & sound decision making. Instead, think what you or I need. How many people in the team or skill do we need?

According to bell curve, only 3% people just even qualify for the criterion that I am writing below. It’s much more valuable once someone has skills. So it’s not just the fancy degrees, or background or chip on the shoulders. Building Innovation needs completely different mindset. This is called High Agency mindset.

  1. Dare to be among world’s top – Make impact or unlock wealth. Dare to be world’s top.
  2. High Agency – Move in most unfavorable conditions. Don’t make excuses not to work. Use constraints as your power.
  3. Original thinker – Innovation needs different mindset. Don’t copy US or China stuff. There are 1000s of blogs already copying & explaining how Deepseek works. We Indians are very good at being follower. Dare to create new things.
  4. Forget money to make money – As they say it. Money is big part of our work to build AGI. But we can’t build world’s greatest stuff being short sighted about money. Most successful love their art, their work. They aren’t here for short term money. As above charts show – there are better ways to make money. May be 50L-1cr per year or even more. But building AGI, be among world’s top 1 day, we have to think way too long term.
