Families talk about PR, good salaries, and a \u201cbetter life.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But last week, during dinner, a viral photo of a Canadian delivery boy popped up on my feed \u2014 layers of jackets, biking through snow, looking exhausted. My in-laws were visiting me. They said, \u201cWahan paisa zyada hai.\u201d True \u2014 Canada still offers $50k+ salaries and a path to PR.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But here\u2019s what I\u2019ve seen: visa queues now take months, tuition costs are up, and many students end up delivering food or driving cabs just to pay bills. I\u2019ve spoken to friends abroad \u2014 it\u2019s a grind: debt, double shifts, no family nearby, and long winters that make you question the trade-off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-quiet-revolution-in-india-s-gig-economy-amp-ev-rental\">The Quiet Revolution in India\u2019s Gig Economy &amp; EV Rental<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Back home, I\u2019m watching something very different unfold. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There will be 24M to 30M gig work jobs in India by 2030. 7.5m to 10m will be just around quick commerce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-why-oem-amp-fleet-management-companies-loving-ev-rental\">Why OEM &amp; fleet management companies loving EV Rental<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This is catalyzing new business of EV rental. For mid to small size OEMs &amp; firms &#8211; EV rental is coming as lucrative option. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>As the Consumer &amp; Retail market has cut throat competition &#8211; they switch to B2B<\/strong> &amp; <strong>Rental<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Quick commerce is booming \u2014 $5.5B market by 2025 \u2014 and EV rentals are scaling at 40% CAGR, with 100,000+ vehicles expected on the road next year. This isn\u2019t just about faster delivery \u2014 it\u2019s quietly reshaping how we view work, mobility, and dignity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My father-in-law put it best:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cNayi generation inko izzat deti hai. There&#8217;s challenge. Operational costs start shooting &amp; scale is tough in EV rental.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Onboarding<\/strong> Rider is difficult<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Payme<strong>n<\/strong><\/strong>t collectio<strong>n<\/strong> is super tough &#8211; Some of my clie<strong>n<\/strong>ts were goi<strong>n<\/strong>g crazy with excels, mai<strong>n<\/strong>tai<strong>n<\/strong>i<strong>n<\/strong>g payme<strong>n<\/strong>t schedules. The<strong>n<\/strong> their accou<strong>n<\/strong>t teams sat tallyi<strong>n<\/strong>g which payme<strong>n<\/strong>ts were received via UPI apps, which via ba<strong>n<\/strong>k<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Servici<strong>n<\/strong><\/strong>g \u2013 EV re<strong>n<\/strong>tal was getting eaten by help <strong>n<\/strong>eeded by rider. Sometimes, basic queries.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I<strong>n<\/strong>vestor O<strong>n<\/strong>boardi<strong>n<\/strong>g &#8211; Capital requirement is huge. As business scale, it needs capital.
